Every so often the server asks a question in chat. First correct answer wins a
crate key — and a plushie.
It is the most reliable key source in the addon, and the only way to get plushies at all.
Answers are matched case-insensitively, as a substring. You do not need to type only the
answer — a sentence containing it counts. That also means a short answer can be triggered
accidentally by an unrelated message, so if you are chatting during a round, expect the
occasional surprise win.
The timer toward the next question only counts while no round is active. A question that runs its
full 30 seconds unanswered pushes the next one back by that much.
Rounds also stop entirely when the online player count drops below the server’s threshold, so quiet
hours produce no questions at all.
Your reward depends on how fast you answered:
| Answered within | You get |
|---|---|
| 5 seconds | Elite Key |
| 15 seconds | Rare Key |
| Any time after | Common Key |
That five-second window is the whole game. An Elite Key is worth far more than a Common one, so
speed matters much more than being the person who happened to know the answer.
Five seconds is roughly enough time to read the question and type a short answer — nothing more. In
practice that means:
Type the answer alone. Substring matching means a bare word counts, so there is no reason to
type a sentence. “Diamond” beats “I think it’s diamond” by a second or more.
Watch chat rather than reacting to it. If you are looking at your inventory when the question
posts, the Elite window has usually closed before you have read it.
Know the question pool. Servers configure their own questions, and the pool is finite. After a
few days of play you will start recognising repeats, and a recognised question is answerable
instantly.
The gap between tiers is not linear. Answering in 6 seconds and answering in 14 give you the
same Rare Key. If you have already missed the 5-second window, there is no benefit to rushing —
take the extra moment to be correct rather than fast.
Every win also gives you one random plushie, drawn from the pool your lifetime win count
has unlocked:
| Tier | Pool |
|---|---|
| Common | 13 passive mobs |
| Uncommon | 21, from dolphins up to iron golems |
| Rare | 17 hostile mobs |
| Epic | 15 nether and End mobs, including the Wither |
| Legendary | 9, including the Ender Dragon and the Warden |
You always draw from your highest unlocked tier, so plushies get rarer as you keep winning.
Until you reach the first threshold, you are told how many more wins you need instead.
Plushies are decorative blocks. The only way to get them is by winning trivia rounds — they are
not craftable and do not appear in crates or loot.
If your inventory is full the plushie drops at your feet and can be picked up immediately.
This is the part worth understanding early. Because you always draw from your highest unlocked
tier, crossing a threshold permanently closes the tiers below it. Once your win count unlocks Rare,
you will never be given a Common or Uncommon plushie again.
So the Common tier’s 13 plushies are only obtainable during your first stretch of wins, and the
Uncommon tier’s 21 only during the second. A completionist collection is therefore harder than it
looks: the early tiers have the smallest windows, and there is no way to reopen them.
The pools are also drawn from randomly, not sequentially, so duplicates are common and finishing a
tier before you advance out of it is unlikely.
Wins are tracked per player, permanently, and never reset by the round timer or a server
restart.
Your count is what gates the plushie tiers, and it only ever increases — there is no decay and no
seasonal reset.
Compared to the other ways of getting crate keys, trivia is the one you control:
Trivia asks only that you are online and reading chat. A player who consistently hits the
five-second window earns Elite Keys steadily regardless of their power level, which makes it the
single best progression route available to a new character.
I answered correctly but got nothing. Someone else was faster. Only the first correct answer
wins.
I won a round I was not even playing. Substring matching. Something you typed happened to
contain the answer.
No questions have appeared for hours. Either the online player count is below the server’s
threshold, or the interval is set long. Both are server settings.
I have loads of wins but keep getting the same plushies. Pools are drawn randomly with
duplicates allowed, and you only draw from your highest tier.
